Is the flexlm license manager (and vendor specific extension BLUESPEC) supported at all on either RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 (x86_64), or Ubuntu (x86)?

Attempting to run the RHEL3 64-bit license server tools, I have lmgrd running successfully, but from strace, BLUESPEC seems to be segfaulting when lmgrd attempts to run it. I attach the lmgrd log (lmgrd.log), and a mysterious log that gets created alongside (6978).

Thanks for any clues you can provide.

Kyle Jamieson

Hi Kyle,

We have had success using both the 32 bit version of lmgrd and BLUESPEC running on a 64-bit machine. As for native 64-bit support, which can be found in $BLUESPECHOME//util/flexlm/x86_64_re3.

Note that FlexLM *_re3 utilities are compatible with re4 and re5. Which version and OS of lmgrd are you using?

Yes; I should clarify -- I tried the binaries in Bluespec-2009.10.B/util/flexlm/x86_64_re3 on 64-bit RHEL5, and Bluespec-2009.10.B/util/flexlm/x86_r9 and x86_re3 on 32-bit Ubuntu, with segfaults in all cases.

Kyle,

thanks for the clarifications.
We at Bluespec are an Ubuntu shop, and use the Bluespec flexlm daemon on a daily basis. Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Are there other packages installed?

I've just solved the problem -- turns out I was including the full path to lmgrd in the VENDOR BLUESPEC line of my license file, while it's supposed to be only the directory path.

Thanks for the assistance.

Kyle
