I am currently working through the tutorial "Bluespec-2008.06.E/training/BSV/tutorials/counter/tutorial-counter.pdf". Some commands did not work with me.

p.5 Simulation
the command to create a simulation executable did fail
Code:
bsc -o sim -e mkTbCounter mkTbCounter.o

I replaced this with
Code:
bsc -o sim -sim -e mkTbCounter mkTbCounter.ba mkCounter.ba

p.9 When testing the improved testbench I got the following compilation error:
Code:
bsc -u -verilog TbCounter.bsv
checking package dependencies
compiling ./Counter.bsv
Error: "/ecad/bluespec/Bluespec-2008.06.E/lib/Prelude/Counter.bi", line 13, column 64: (T0023)
The type `Counter.Counter' does not take an argument.
make: *** [verilog] Error 1

I suppose Counter is also the name of a macroblock used by bluespec. If I rename my block to e.g. CounterA then the error disappears.
I noticed in the appendix of the tutorial Ch0xCounter is used. Probably it would be better to explicitly say this in the main text of the tutorial.

You are right - you can't use the name Counter for your package because there already is a bsv package named Counter.

The tutorial has been updated. The new version uses the Development workstation.

Thank you for your input
